Professor Emerita of Political Science and International Affairs Elizabeth Freund Larus, who is 2026 Ministry of Foreign Affairs Taiwan Fellow, discussed U.S. policy in the Indo-Pacific with students and faculty virtually at Poland’s Marie Curie Skłodowska University.
Larus discussed the role of regional allies as force aggregators and offered an overview of U.S. policy toward Taiwan. She also offered insight on President Trump’s upcoming meeting with China’s leader Xi Jinping, and answered students’ questions regarding the potential for a future conflict with China. Larus was a 2020 Fulbright Research Fellow at UMCS, where she maintains a professional relationship.
