Professor of Political Science and International Affairs Jason Davidson co-authored an Atlantic Council analysis with Matt Trunkey titled “The Ankara Summit Is an Opportunity for NATO to Ramp Up Engagement with Its Southern Neighborhood.”
The article argues that NATO’s engagement with its southern neighborhood has been inconsistent despite growing security challenges in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Sahel. The authors contend that the upcoming Ankara summit presents an opportunity to strengthen dialogue with regional partners while enhancing air-defense and counter-drone capabilities, expanding Mediterranean maritime security efforts, and improving the protection of critical infrastructure.
Davidson is also a nonresident senior fellow with the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Security Initiative in the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. Read the analysis in the Atlantic Council.
