Début Grad Fair a Grand Success

A Grad School Fair hosted by the Center for Career and Professional Development drew 24 schools and more than 150 students – along with recent alumni – to the University of Mary Washington earlier this week.

Held on the second floor of the Cedric Rucker University Center (CRUC), the two-hour début event launched Life After Mary Wash Week, which also includes a fellows symposium, speed career prep event, etiquette dinner and pop-up boutique. The main event, the Career and Internship Fair, marks the series finale. It’s scheduled to take place on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the CRUC’s Chandler Ballroom.

“It was our first ever Grad School Fair,” Student Experience Manger Emily Burke ’15 said of the event, which introduced participants to admissions representatives able to list and explain options. “We’re thrilled at the turnout.”

In addition to UMW, schools who presented graduate programs at the fair ranged from American University to the Virginia Tech Institute for Advanced Computing.
