The following message is from IT:
UMW Staff, Faculty and Students,
Over fall break, UMW Information Technologies (IT) will install new hardware for wireless access points in several academic and administrative buildings. This project follows the Apogee upgrades from the prior academic year and is part of a multi-phased project to update wireless access on campus. We are also working to improve bandwidth of the existing internet infrastructure throughout the Fredericksburg Campus.
The upgrades will take place on Monday, Oct. 14 and Tuesday, Oct. 15 on the tentative schedule below. Please note that wireless access will not be available in the designated building while the new access points are installed. You can continue to use an ethernet connection during this time.
On Monday, Oct. 14, we’ll work on the following buildings:
- Anderson
- Goolrick
- Fitness Center
- duPont
- Pollard
- Melchers
On Tuesday, Oct. 15, updates will be made in:
- Woodard
- GW
- Eagle Village
Monroe Hall has already been updated as part of the current renovations.
As a reminder, the Apogee MyResNet network is available in residence halls and extends to other buildings for residential students. The UMW network is available for students, staff and faculty, with the UMW-secure network as an option for UMW-issued devices. More information is available on our wireless networks page.
This new hardware for wireless access points will enhance the UMW network and UMW-secure network, following the temporary outages during the installation process.
