Important message regarding use of AirBnB
The following message is from the Office of Administration and Finance.
On July 1, 2019, the Virginia Department of Accounts edited travel regulations and now specifically prohibits reimbursement for the use of an Airbnb for Commonwealth business travel. The Department of Accounts states that safety of travelers is a concern. According to the Department of Risk Management, Airbnb’s have a significantly higher risk than staying at a commercial hotel. At this time the University will not reimburse employees for lodging at an Airbnb during business travel, regardless of the funding source.
