UMW FLSA rule effective November 25
The UMW effective date of the new FLSA rule has been changed from November 10 to November 25, 2016. We learned during implementation testing that this change will facilitate a more seamless transition for employees.
- All classified staff and A/P faculty with salaries below the new threshold, with the exception of those who teach, will become non-exempt effective November 25, 2016.
- A/P faculty will begin to report leave in MyTime using quarter-hour increments on Monday, November, 28, 2016.
- Monday, November, 28, 2016 will be the first day of the new two week schedule for all exempt employees, changing from a 40 hour work schedule to an 80 hour work schedule.
- The university continues to explore its policy requiring non-exempt employees to punch in and out of MyTime. Information about how a change will impact operations is still being gathered. A final decision about whether the change will be made will be announced this spring.
The FLSA @ UMW Information Session presentation and FAQ’s are being updated to reflect these changes. Please feel free to submit any questions or concerns about implementation of the new FLSA rule to the Office of Human Resources at Ask a Question. We will get back with you promptly.

Removal of the College Avenue Annex
The following message is from the Office of Administration and Finance:
Beginning Thursday, October 20, the temporary structure (mobile housing) on College Avenue directly across from Payne Street will be removed and transported to a new location outside of the Fredericksburg area. There will be some disruption to parking as well as street and pedestrian traffic as the units are disassembled and mounted on large tractor trailers. At this time, the exact duration of the removal process is not known but it is expected to take several days.
Please do not hesitate to contact Les Johnson, capital outlay project manager in Facilities, at 654-2100, if you have questions.
Thank you,
Rick Pearce
