Richard V. Hurley, who twice served as acting president of the University of Mary Washington, was inaugurated Friday as its ninth president.
The University of Mary Washington Annual Security Report has been published for 2011. This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University of Mary Washington; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.
Also included are policy statements that address the school’s policies, procedures and programs concerning safety and security. For example, policies for responding to emergency situations and sexual offenses are included.

The division of Information Technologies, in cooperation with the IT Advisory Committee, has completed an initial draft of the IT Strategic Plan and is seeking your input. The UMW Strategic Plan <http://www.umw.edu/provost/faculty_resources/plan/default.php> calls for the development of an iterative two- to five-year comprehensive information technology plan and estimated cost for UMW’s Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Dahlgren campuses that is aligned with the institution’s overall strategic plan and operational budget. The draft of this plan is available for comment at: http://itplan.umwblogs.org . Comments submitted online will be reviewed by the IT Advisory committee. The site will be open for comments until Monday, October 10.
