Bruce O’Brien, professor of history, will discuss the effort to translate and digitize 150 early English law codes, including the Magna Carta, during an interview on the “With Good Reason” public radio program beginning Saturday, Feb. 11.

Yuan-Jen Chiang, professor of mathematics, has a research article “Some Properties of Biwave Maps”  published in the April issue of the Journal of Geometry and Physics.

The article was presented at the recent International Congress of Mathematicians, held every four years, in Hyderabad, India. She also presented a research paper “Biwave Maps, Stability and Conservation Law” at the 5th International Conference on Mathematics and Statistics in Athens, Greece.

Stephen J. Farnsworth, professor of political science and director of the university’s Center for Leadership and Media Studies, is co-author of a chapter entitled, “How Television Covers the Presidential Nomination Process,” in The Making of the Presidential Candidates 2012, an edited volume published by Rowman & Littlefield.

On Friday, Feb. 10, Farnsworth will be the featured guest on TBD-8’s news program, “NewsTalk with Bruce DePuyt.” The interview, set to air at 10 a.m., will focus on Virginia’s current legislative session.

Associate Professor of English Eric Lorentzen’s article “Dickens at 200: Still Relevant After All These Years” has been picked up by the McClatchy-Tribune newswire and has appeared in numerous publications, including McClatchy D.C., the Sacramento Bee, the Bradenton Herald (Fla.) and the Bellingham Herald (Wash.).

The piece, originally published in The Free Lance-Star on Sunday, Feb. 5, explores the enduring relevance of Dickens’ work in light of the bicentennial of his birth.

Jeff McClurken, associate professor of history, wrote “A Report from EduCon 2.4” for the ProfHacker blog on the Chronicle of Higher Education’s website. In the post, he discusses his takeaways from the recent EduCon 2.4 conference and explains the parallels between the issues facing higher education and K-12 education.
