More than 125 University of Mary Washington undergraduate students will present their work at the sixth annual Research and Creativity Symposium on Tuesday, April 17.

Student presentations will take place in the Woodard Campus Center’s Great Hall, Red Room and meeting rooms from 9:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and in Melchers Hall from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend all sessions free of charge.

From noon to 12:45 p.m., students will present poster sessions and discuss their artwork. Student composers and musicians will perform from 12:45 to 1:15 p.m.

Eagle Dining is proud to announce the Go Green Grant Fund! This grant was established by Sodexo and Eagle Dining so UMW students, faculty and staff may support sustainability and wellness projects on campus and in the surrounding Fredericksburg community.

This grant was created in conjunction with the new Go Green meal plan; for each Go Green meal plan purchased, Eagle Dining has contributed $5 to the Go Green Grant Fund. These funds will provide selected grant fund applicants with the financial means to make an impact on their school and their community. The Go Green Grant may be used in areas such as, but not limited to:  further research, equipment purchases to enhance sustainability, sponsoring hunger or wellness organizations, or supporting an educational campaign on sustainability or wellness.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 27, so be sure to visit our official website (www.umwdining.com) for an application and more information.  Faculty and staff are highly encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity!

It is that time of year again – the UMW Day of Silence is Friday, April 20.  If your department didn’t donate, you can still get a shirt!

Mark your calendars now for June 13^th. This day trip to the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. will highlight an exhibition of George Bellows. A contemporary of Gari Melchers, this American artist was a part of a radical group of artist self titled “The Eight” and named by critics “The Ashcan School.”  You can read the National Galleries short biography of George Bellows here. This show will feature over 150 works by the artist and is the most complete account of his career and achievements. This trip will allow time for our group to visit the exhibition, as well as free time to take in the rest of the National Gallery and the city. Make your reservations today!  George Bellows Flyer
