Student callers ended the fall Phonathon session with a grand total of $382,104 in gifts and pledges. During the nine-week calling session, 20 student callers and four student supervisors headquartered in Hamlet House reached out to UMW alumni and parents. They attempted 68,282 calls to receive a total of 4,419 pledges and 548 outright gifts by credit card.

The Office of Advancement hosted the callers for a celebration banquet at the Jepson Alumni Executive Center on December 7. The next calling session begins February 6, 2012.

Starting in January 2012 the EagleOne Card Center located in Lee Hall, Room 110 will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Faculty and staff with a valid UMW ID are eligible and can activate their EagleOne debit account with an initial deposit of $25 or by signing up for automatic payroll deduction.

EagleOne is now accepted at over 20 off-campus  locations and virtually everywhere on campus.

UMW will present its 2012 Chappell Great Lives Lecture Series beginning in January and running through April. The popular program, which will examine the lives of a wide range of intriguing historical figures, is open to the public free of charge. The lectures will be held at 7:30 p.m. in George Washington Hall’s Dodd Auditorium on selected Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

The series begins Tuesday, January 24, with a lecture on Kurt Vonnegut by Charles J. Shields, associate director of the Great Lives Series. Shields is the author of the recently released “And So It Goes: Kurt Vonnegut, A Life,” the first full-length biography of Vonnegut. The book has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Shields also is the author of “Mockingbird: A Portrait of Harper Lee,” the bestselling biography of the author of “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

The 2012 series will continue with lectures on major figures such as Christopher Columbus, Marquis de Lafayette, Marie Curie and the Wright brothers. The recent biographers of Aaron Burr, Noah Webster, Clarence Darrow and Marie and Pierre Curie also will present lectures.

Several offices will be leaving their Centre Court offices and relocating to the fourth floor of Eagle Village, from Wednesday, December 14th to Friday, December 16th.  The move will involve some or all staff in the following offices:
