Greetings Faculty and Staff,
We have recently expanded our partnership with Mary Washington Healthcare to offer more COVID testing. That includes off-campus testing for faculty and staff exposed to a positive case at work. We are also increasing on-campus testing capacity. While on-campus testing is typically focused on our unvaccinated population as well as students who are exposed to a positive case on campus, our low case numbers this week present an opportunity for us to invite faculty/staff to get tested “at will” on campus this Friday, September 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. We can accommodate up to 120 individuals during this time. If you are interested in being tested tomorrow, please read on.
Instructions for Testing
- Please sign up for a testing time by clicking here. If all of the slots are full, we have reached our capacity for the day.
- At your selected time, please go to Bushnell Hall (the residence hall across Jefferson Square from Combs Hall) and enter through the front doors. A staff member will greet you and have you complete a consent form.
- Mary Washington Healthcare will have personnel that will administer the test. MWHC is utilizing the BinaxNOW rapid antigen test. It takes 15 minutes to receive results.
Next Steps After Receiving Results
- If you receive a negative test result, you will be cleared to continue your day as planned.
- If you receive a positive test result, you will meet with a UMW representative to discuss next steps. This will include information about isolation, reporting information to the Virginia Department of Health, and other available resources on and off campus.
Additional item of importance
- If you have COVID-like symptoms, please stay home and don’t sign up for a time. Contact your healthcare provider for further instructions.
Please let us know if you have any questions. It is our hope that with expanded testing options, we will be able to provide this opportunity periodically throughout the semester.
Sincerely,
Public Health Advisory Working Group
