Goehring Presents Paper at International Conference

Jim Goehring, professor of classics, philosophy and religion, presented a paper on “’Talking Back’ in Pachomian Hagiography: Theodore’s Catechesis and the Letter of Ammon” at the  XVII International Conference on Patristic Studies in Oxford, August 10-14, 2015.


Goehring in Egypt

Jim Goehring, professor of Classics, Philosophy and Religion, delivered a paper on “The Pachomian Federation and Lower Egypt: The Ties That Bind” at the Saint Mina Monastery Symposium held Feb. 8-12 in Mariut, Egypt. Sponsored by the St. Mark Foundation for Coptic History, the symposium offered Goehring the chance to meet and speak with his holiness Pope Tawadros II, spiritual head of the Coptic Church.

P1050373-Version-2James Goehring, Professor of Religion, presented a paper on “The Monastery of Apollo at Bala’izah and Its Literary Texts” at the Annual Meeting of the North American Patristics Society in Chicago,Illinois, held May 22-24, 2014. The paper explored the contents of the library of an important 7th-8th century Coptic Christian Monastery in Upper Egypt.
