Annual Open Enrollment

May 1 – May 22, 2015

Your UMW Benefits Team will conduct an open enrollment informational session on each Campus:

Fredericksburg – Tuesday, May 12 at 10:00 am in Lee Hall, Room 412

Stafford – Thursday, May 14 at 3:00 pm in the North Building, Room 114

Dahlgren – Thursday, May 14 at 1:00 pm

Open Enrollment for health care and flexible spending accounts (FSAs) begins on Friday, May 1 and continues through Friday, May 22, 2015. This timeframe is your opportunity to enroll in a health plan, change your health plan, add or remove family members or waive state health coverage without a qualifying reason  (eligibility documentation is required for dependent coverage) and it is the annual enrollment for Flexible Spending Accounts.

There are a few changes to our health insurance plans this plan year, please be sure that you understand all of your options before making your open enrollment election. More flexibility with receiving Premium Rewards.   Annual Enrollment is required for participation in the Flexible Medical or Dependent Spending Accounts. Please note the maximum contribution to a Medical FSA has increased to $2, 550 and failure to resolve FSA card transactions on time will result in withholding that amount from your paycheck.

Two Options to Make Changes and/or Enroll:

EmployeeDirect – https://edirect.virginia.gov/

EmployeeDirect has been enhanced and updated. EmployeeDirect changes are accepted until 11:59 pm on Friday, May 22, 2015.

Paper Enrollment Form –  http://www.dhrm.virginia.gov/docs/default-source/benefitsdocuments/OpenEnrollment2015/stateactiveenrollform2015.pdf?sfvrsn=2  (Section 3 – Flexible Spending Accounts and Section 4 Health Care Coverage).  Enrollment forms must be forwarded and received in Office of Human Resources on or before 5 pm on Friday, May 22, 2015 to be effective July 1, 2015. 

The Premium Reward Program will continue for the 2015-2016 plan year. The program is only available to employees, retirees and their spouses enrolled in COVA Care or COVA HealthAware.  The requirements have not changed—completion of an online health assessment and biometric screening.  Each can be access by creating an account with www.myactivehealth.com You can confirm your participation in the Premium Reward Program by logging into your EmployeeDirect account.

  1. For those enrolled in either COVA Care or COVA HealthAware on or before July 1, 2015 and currently receiving the premium reward:
  • Both (employee and enrolled spouse) are required to update their online health assessment no later than June 30, 2015 to continue receiving the premium reward without a break. The reward will continue through the plan year, as long as you are enrolled in one of the plans. Biometric Screening is not required.
  1. 2. For participants who are enrolled in either COVA Care or COVA HealthAware and are NOT currently receiving the premium reward:
    • Participant and/or enrolled spouse must complete both requirements by June 30, 2015, in order to start receiving their premium rewards effective July 1, 201 The reward will continue through June 30, 2016, as long as enrollment in one of the plans continues.

New:  If the requirements are not completed by June 30, 2015, eligible members can complete the online health assessment and or the biometric screening during the plan year and the Premium reward will be effective the first of the month after both requirements are completed, submitted and accepted.
