Save the date for David Cain memorial, April 14

Dear members of the UMW community,

There will be a celebration of the life of David Cain, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Religion at UMW, on Thursday, April 14, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., in the HCC Garden (tiered lower section; rain location: James Farmer Hall rotunda).

Dr. Cain, who passed away last summer, taught for 44 years at Mary Washington, before retiring in 2014. His colleagues and former students will remember his passionate delivery of class lectures, including those for his signature course on Good and Evil, as well as his love of theater, literature, and photography. He was internationally known for his work on Søren Kierkegaard, publishing the book, An Evocation of Kierkegaard.

The celebration is open to anyone wishing to honor Dr. Cain’s life and contributions to Mary Washington. If you have any questions about the celebration, or any photographs or memories that you would like to share at the event, please contact Joe Romero, Chair of Classics, Philosophy, & Religion.
