Banned Book Week
In recognition of Banned Books Week, the University Bookstore, the Department of English, Linguistics, and Communication, and Simpson Library are sponsoring public readings from banned books. Each year, the American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom records hundreds of attempts by individuals and groups to have books removed from library shelves and classrooms. Stop by Campus Walk in front of Lee Hall between noon and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27, and Thursday, Sept. 28, to hear faculty read excerpts from classics that have been banned or challenged. Copies of banned books will be available for purchase. Read your own banned book!
