October’s Coffee Talk session, Empowering Entrepreneurs: Fostering Independence and Inspiring the Next Generation, will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 8 to 9 a.m. at *718 Venue, 718 Caroline Street, Fredericksburg. Parking is available at Riverfront Park, George Street Lot, and Sophia Street Parking Deck. Street parking is also available along Caroline Street.
In a recent survey, 90% of people said they would like to own a business. Independence and autonomy are primary reasons given for this desire. In this Coffee Talk, we’ll discuss ways entrepreneurship empowers business owners and how business owners can empower their employees and the next generation of business owners.
This Coffee Talk will be facilitated by Susan Ball, Director of the UMW SBDC.Susan Ball is the Director of the University of Mary Washington SBDC and a Certified Business Analyst. She works with clients to evaluate business opportunities, forecast cash flows, develop marketing strategies, prepare loan proposals, and write business plans. She also assists clients in registering to do business with state and federal agencies and obtaining applicable minority business certifications. She teaches Blue Print Business Plan seminars. She is certified as a NxLevel instructor and a GrowthWheel advisor. Susan has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from the University of Mary Washington and an MBA in finance from the University of Florida. Prior to working with the SBDC, Susan co-authored finance textbooks, taught high school mathematics, and owned a pizza restaurant. She has been with the SBDC since the fall of 2007 and has worked with hundreds of clients during that time.
