Associate Professor of Psychology Laura Wilson shared her expertise for an article in The B|E Note, a reader and partner-driven publication on Substack offering strategic insights on politics, policy, people and the spaces affected by them. In the piece, titled “Rising Sexual Assault Rates Prove That It’s More Than An Occasional Headline,” Wilson acknowledges the long-term consequences of not accepting that you have been raped and how devastating it can be. She says research shows that unacknowledged rape survivors are “less likely to report the crime to police, less likely to seek services – e.g. medical, mental health – and more likely to be victimized again.” Read more in The B|E Note.
