The University of Mary Washington has been named to The Princeton Review’s 2012 edition of "The Best 376 Colleges." The Princeton Review is a New York City-based education services company that annually publishes guidebooks ranking colleges, business and law schools.

Psychology Professors Publish Article
Dave Kolar, associate professor of psychology, and Christine McBride, professor of psychology, recently had their paper “Mentoring At-Risk Youth in Schools: Can Small Doses Make a Big Change?” published in the peer-reviewed journal Mentoring and Tutoring: Partnership in Learning. The paper was chosen by the editor as the lead article in the volume.
The article is one of several papers that have resulted from their three years of work as the assessment and evaluation coordinators on a $475,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education awarded to Rappahannock Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Summer in Spain
The students who have been studying in Bilbao, Spain for the past month are about to make the journey home. This is the ninth summer that a group of students has traveled to Spain as part of the UMW in Spain summer program.
Jose A. Sainz, associate professor in the Center for International Education, has led the group through classes, tours and trips. The students, who will receive academic credit for their coursework, have documented their experiences in UMW Blogs.

Jason Davidson Presents in Italy
Jason Davidson, associate professor of political science and international affairs, recently presented lectures at the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) in Rome and the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa. The IAI is Italy’s leading international relations think tank, whereas the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna is a renowned research university. In both lectures Professor Davidson discussed the findings of his recently published book, “America’s Allies and War: Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq.”
