Saturday, June 25, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Audience: 3rd grade to adult
From idea to finished object, participants print their own professional-looking and unique t-shirt. Starting by discussing what makes a good design, participants create their own designs, cut stencils and print onto shirts using the silkscreen printing technique. Along the way, the concept of positive and negative shapes is introduced as they relate to stencil design. This workshop is a fun and fast paced day that involves both individual creativity and team work! Participants provide own t-shirts.

UMW Selects Director of James Monroe Museum
Scott Harris has been chosen as director of the James Monroe Museum and Memorial Library in Fredericksburg. Harris, who currently serves as director of the New Market Battlefield State Historical Park in New Market, Va., will begin work at the museum July 18.
UMW Again Named to President’s Community Service Honor Roll
The University of Mary Washington has been named to The President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Role for the second consecutive year. UMW is one of 641 U.S. colleges and universities recognized for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement.
Beate Jensen Honored by Stafford County
On May 17, Beate Jensen, Buildings and Grounds Preservation Supervisor at Gari Melchers Home and Studio, was presented with a Stafford County Historic Preservation Award by the Stafford County Historical Commission. Recognized at a Board of Supervisors meeting, Beate was cited “For her diligence in promoting and organizing volunteer efforts for the restoration of the Fannie Roots House in historic Falmouth.”
