Allyson Moerman, Associate Vice President for Finance, has been selected to serve on the inaugural Kronos Customer Advisory Board (CAB). The CAB will allow Kronos to connect with industry leaders to identify and prioritize their service needs and help Kronos become even more customer focused.
Midnight Breakfast Servers Needed
Campus Dining will be hosting our semi-annual Midnight Breakfast (a free hot breakfast for all UMW students) on Monday, April 25, and we are looking for volunteer servers to assist us. Servers would be asked to arrive at 10:45 p.m. and stay until about 12:15 a.m. It’s lots of fun and students really enjoy seeing faculty, staff and administrators serving up the goodies! Marie E. McAllister, Professor of English, has published “Ungovernable Propensities: Belinda and the Idea of Addiction” in The Age of Johnson.
McAllister’s review of Marilyn Francus’ Monstrous Motherhood appears in the current issue of The Eighteenth-Century Intelligencer.
Rafferty Publishes Essay, Presents at Conference
Colin Rafferty, associate professor of English, recently had his essay “Four Sentences on Failure (#16)” published in the 2016 issue of The Evansville Review. He also moderated and presented a paper on the panel “Joan Didion and Today’s Essayists” on April 2 at the Association of Writers and Writing Programs conference in Los Angeles.
Rao Elected President of Faculty Senate of Virginia
P. Anand Rao, associate professor of communication and Director of the Speaking Intensive Program, represented the University of Mary Washington at the Faculty Senate of Virginia’s meeting at Longwood University on April 16. At that session, he was elected President of the FSVA for next year. This group includes representatives from the faculty senates and councils of schools across Virginia, including public, private, four- and two-year institutions.
