The daylong event featured a series of workshops taught by Mary Washington faculty and administrators. Topics included everything from professional development and leadership philosophies to art and poetry, with refreshments and a “brown bag” networking lunch provided by Sodexo.
On Friday with the government shutdown lingering indefinitely, UMW began brainstorming ways to support affected workers. The University pulled the event together in less than a week, sparking national attention.
“I am amazed and grateful that the UMW community came together so quickly to support this group of people at this time of need,” said Executive Director of Continuing and Professional Studies Kimberly Young. “The faculty responded with topics and showed up fully to teach and share their passions with the participants.”
