UMW Students Reach Out; Fredericksburg.com

Last Monday, many people had a day off for Martin Luther King Day. But students at the University of Mary Washington did extra work–and continued their efforts throughout the week. As part of the Martin Luther King week of service, students reached out to area nonprofits, nursing homes and ministries. The week ended yesterday, and 435 students volunteered 1,056 hours. Great Lives; The Free Lance-Star

The University of Mary Washington‘s ‘Great Lives’ lecture series continues this week with a discussion on Tuesday of “Peanuts” cartoonist and observer of the human condition Charles Schulz, given by M. Thomas Inge, a professor of humanities at Randolph-Macon College and the editor of “My Life With Charlie Brown.” An op-ed column by Mr. Inge appears today on Page D3.
