Stephen Lipscomb says
Janusz is a truly exceptional mathematician and person. As an emeritus professor of mathematics at UMW and as the chair of the math department for nine years when Janusz was hired, I can tell you from experience that from day one Janusz was outstanding.
He is a world class mathematician in semigroups. He carefully proof read the draft of my AMS research monograph on semigroups published by the American Mathematical Society and his suggestions greatly improved the presentation.
His advisor at Penn State was recognized as one of the worlds top five experts in semigroups. HIs teaching in mathematics could not have been better — when he provided the students with a “proof” of a theorem, you could be sure that it was correct, and he presented the proof from the best possible view for understanding how to think about it.
Certainly, Janusz should eventually be a distinguished Professor of Mathematics! My advisor at UVA was a former President of the American Mathematical Society, and I have the experience and background to recognize a “real” mathematics professor, and it is great to see that Janusz is still working at such an outstanding level. Good Luck Janusz !
