Please help support the STOP Hunger Food Drive!
Collection bins for non-perishable food items are available in all dining facilities, the UMW Book Store, the Fitness Center, the Andersen Center, and the Giant Food store in Eagle Village. Donations may also be dropped off near the FRED bus stop on College Avenue outside Seacobeck Hall between noon and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Campus Dining will also be selling discounted canned goods at the Eagle’s Nest between noon and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Donation bins will be located nearby so those wishing to contribute can purchase a can of food for 50 cents or $1, and then drop the donation in the bin.
Besides benefiting the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank, donations will also help our UMW Athletic Department win the conference food collection championship. The title is held by Christopher Newport University, and our athletes want to “Can CNU”!
The Stop Hunger campaign is an annual food drive sponsored by Sodexo, Inc. and its non-profit Sodexo Foundation, which is dedicated to reducing hunger in the U. S. UMW Dining Services participates in this national campaign every year, and has always had the invaluable support of the UMW Athletic Department. Each year our campus athletes have donated more than 2,000 pounds of food to our drives. This year the athletes have set an incredible goal of collecting more than 10,000 pounds of food for our area’s needy families!
