No Shipping Address in “See Comments”

eVA Users should discontinue use of “SEE COMMENTS” as a choice for delivery address immediately.

If the correct shipping address is not available in the drop down list, contact Vickie Chapman to have the correct address entered.  “SEE COMMENTS” will be removed by eVA at a future date.

eVA Change Orders

If Users need to issue change-orders to requisitions that were created prior to break, be prepared for a one time change.  An error message will state that  the ORG is invalid.   Please contact Procurement Services for assistance, or follow the guidance provided below:

If the change order requires a line item deletion, Users will need to manage the ORG code error PRIOR to deleting the line item.  To manage the ORG code error, edit the line item and select the ORG code from the full ORGS available drop down list.  Once the ORG is reselected, the line item can be deleted if necessary, or other changes made and the requisition re-submitted.

Contract Numbers Must be Entered

When entering an eVA order from a contract (state, UMW or other), Users must enter the contract number in the contract number field which is located in the line item of the requisition.   For help with contract numbers contact Procurement Services, ext. 1127.

–        Promotional Items-  This contract will support departments that regularly purchase promotional products.  The UMW Bookstore is also able to assist with promotional products.

–        Printing-   This contract will assist departments who have assorted medium volume printing needs.

BOOKS FROM THE GREAT LIVES LECTURES

The Bookstore will have books available for sale at the Great Lives lecture series during the spring semester.  All lectures are in Dodd Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.  Visit the Great Lives website for the complete list of speakers.

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the deaths of two beloved members of the UMW Community:

Bernie Lemoine, professor emeritus of music, died on Saturday, January 19 at the age of 83. Having served in the Korean conflict, he joined the music faculty of Mary Washington in 1965 after receiving his bachelor and master of music degrees in piano performance from Oberlin and from the University of Illinois. He later received his Ph.D. in music theory from Catholic University where, according to Professor Martha Fickett, his research centered on the late piano music of Franz Liszt. At Mary Washington he taught piano, music theory, and music appreciation until his retirement in 2001. Professor Fickett recalls his expert performances on campus in solo recitals, as an accompanist, and with the College Community Orchestra, now the Philharmonic. His wife Suzanne predeceased him and he is survived by his daughter Lisa and his son Michael. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Jefferson Davis Highway, where a funeral will also be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25. George Van Sant, distinguished professor emeritus of philosophy, died Sunday, January 20 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond at the age of 85. He joined the Mary Washington faculty in 1958 after receiving his A.B. from St. John’s College in Annapolis, and his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.  He taught at Mary Washington for 32 years before his retirement in 1990, serving as chair of his department. He was the recipient of the 1986 Grellet C. Simpson Award for Undergraduate Teaching, the university’s highest honor bestowed on a faculty member. His support of students continued beyond retirement through scholarships that he and his wife, Milena, provided.  Active in local and state government, he was a three-term member of the Fredericksburg City Council, head of the Fredericksburg Democratic Party and recipient the Prince B. Woodard Citizenship Award, the highest honor given to an individual by the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce. A proud member of the Marine Corps during both World War II and the Korean conflict, George revisited his experiences in his 2008 book “Taking on the Burden of History.” In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Mary Duncan. His son Ned predeceased him. UMW received high marks in the sixth annual statewide assessment of emergency preparedness measures. In the assessment, UMW received perfect scores for its physical security initiatives, information technology security measures, document protection, fire safety and campus warning systems for an overall score of 98 out of 100.

“This is a team effort on behalf of the University Emergency Management and Safety staff,” said Ruth Lovelace, director of Emergency Management and Safety. “The administration and community of UMW have always taken emergency preparedness seriously and provided support needed both in preparations and response.”

The Office of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security administers the Preparedness Assessment to state agencies and institutions of higher education each year. The assessment measures the overall level of preparedness in the following major areas of emphasis: physical security, continuity of operations planning, information technology security, document protection, human resources preparedness, training, and interoperable communications.
