Betsy Chinn

Congratulations to Betsy Chinn, office manager for the Office of the President, who has been selected as the Excellent Eagle Employee for the month of March. A parking spot of her choosing has been reserved for her through the end of the month.

Angela Rye is the co-founder of IMPACT Strategies, an organization that seeks to encourage young professionals in three core areas: economic empowerment, civic engagement, and political involvement. Rye has previously served as the executive director and general counsel to the Congressional Black Caucus. Rye was the youngest female executive director and first general for the Congressional Black Caucus. In that role, she was tasked with developing the overall legislative and political strategy for the caucus. She also served as senior advisor and counsel to the House Committee on Homeland Security under the leadership of Congressman Bennie G. Thompson, chairman. She was charged with developing the general political strategy for the Committee with a focus on assisting disenfranchised, small minority-owned businesses.

Rye was recognized as one of the most dynamic, young leaders on Capitol Hill. She’s been featured on MSNBC, TV One, C-SPAN, BET, as well as in The Root 100, MSNBC’s “BLTWY Power List: 35 under 35 Who Changed D.C.,” the Washington Post’s “Who Runs Gov”, and recognized as one of D.C.’s Most Influential.

UMW Police Chief Eddie Perry has accepted a new position at Virgina State University and will be leaving UMW on Feb. 24. We wish Eddie well in his new role. There will be a farewell reception for Eddie on Friday, Feb. 21, from 1:15-2:30 p.m. in the foyer of Dodd Auditorium. 

Lt. Michael Hall will serve as acting chief of police when Chief Perry leaves.
