Mukesh Srivastava, associate professor of management information systems in the College of Business organized the fourth annual International Conference of the Association of Global Management Studies held March 4 and 5 at the University of California at Berkeley.
Louis Martinette, associate professor of leadership, presented “Perceived Customer Value: A Research Agenda Toward a Uniform Measure” with his co-authors Alice Obenchain-Leeson and Mukesh Srivastava.
Srivastava presented two additional papers on “Profiling Sustainability Curriculum in AACSB Schools” and “The Perception of Quality for Users of E-Learning Environments: Development of a Multidimensional Measure,” which is a co-authored paper with professors Daniel Tomiuk and Josefina Segarra from the University of Quebec.
This years’ keynote speaker, Richard Lyons, Bank of America Dean and Professor, Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley spoke on “Creating Innovative Leadership at the conference.
Of the 73 papers submitted, 23 papers were accepted for presentations representing nine countries – Australia, China, Canada, Germany, India, Korea, Taiwan, U.K. and the U.S. All papers presented at the conference were published in the 2013 (4th) International Conference Proceedings of the AGMS.
The Association of Global Management Studies promotes research and advances the knowledge of global management educators, researchers and practitioners. Founded in 2009 by Srivastava, it publishes two journals, the “International Journal of Global Management Studies” and the “International Journal of Global Management Studies Professional.”

Mukesh Srivastava and Lou Martinette’s co-authored paper entitled “Building a Sustainable Competitive Advantage” has been accepted for presentation at the11th World Congress of the International Federation of Scholarly Association of Management (IFSAM) 2012 to be held at the University of Limerick from June 26 to 29.
This research study focuses on the cross-industrial best practices in the context of the resource based competitive advantage model of the firm. It identifies managerial levers, tools and systems which all collectively combine to influence a firm’s ability to sustain its core competences and therefore its competitive advantage. Specifically, contemporary techniques are discussed that provide credible, accountable leadership, high performance recruitment, & employee rewards, retention of creative people, building a more engaged workforce, improved strategy definition and more balanced execution tools.
Mukesh Srivastava, associate professor of accounting and management information systems, presented a blind reviewed co-authored paper on “Co-creation in Vendor-Customer Matrix Organizations: A Boundary Theory Approach” at the sixth Asian Business Research Conference held in Bangkok, Thailand from April 8 through 10. He won Best Paper Award at the international conference. He also was awarded a fellowship by the World Academy of Social Science on Tuesday, April 10.
University of Mary Washington faculty member Mukesh Srivastava has been selected to receive a Fulbright Specialist grant for 2011-12. Srivastava, associate dean of the College of Business and associate professor of management information systems, will spend the month of October in Tunisia to develop a graduate program in management and information technology for the Tunis Business School at Tunis University. He is the first faculty member of the College of Business to receive a Fulbright award.
As a recipient of the Fulbright Specialist grant, Srivastava will work with Tunis Business School faculty to refine and implement a new master’s program in information technology. His work at Tunis University will strengthen connections between Tunisia and the United States, allowing for future collaborations including student exchanges, abroad programs and visiting faculty.
