Stephen Farnsworth, professor of political science and director of the University’s Center for Leadership and Media Studies, and Ellen O’Brien, a senior political science major at UMW and a research associate at the center, are coauthors of an article reviewing the 2015 campaigns for the Senate of Virginia. The article appeared in the October 2015 issue of Fredericksburg Regional Business magazine.

Farnsworth Moderates Senate of Virginia Debate
Stephen Farnsworth, professor of political science and director of the University’s Center for Leadership and Media Studies, recently moderated a debate for the 36th District of the Senate of Virginia. Del. Scott Surovell (D) and Dumfries Mayor Jerry Foreman (R) are competing in the district, which includes portions of Stafford, Prince William and Fairfax counties. The incumbent senator, Toddy Puller (D), is retiring after 24 years of service in the state Senate and House of Delegates. She is a graduate of Mary Washington College.
