Executive Director of Alumni Engagement Mark Thaden and Director of Annual Giving Shelby Orlando preview Mary Wash Day on April 4 and Reunion Weekend May 30-June 2 on WFVA Radio’s ‘Town Talk.’ “Our goals are 2,500 gifts, including 1,000 alumni donors and 250 first-time donors,” said Shelby Orlando. “The goal really is to celebrate milestone reunions, so we start at the 10th and go all the way out to the 65th reunion and beyond. The goal is to create an immersive experience where they get to relive their college days, experience campus, connect with faculty and connect with their former classmates,” said Mark Thaden. UMW to ‘Come Together’ for Fourth Annual Mary Wash Giving Day
The University of Mary Washington is asking alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends to “Come Together” for its fourth annual giving day on Thursday, March 19.
On Mary Wash Giving Day, donors can make gifts to benefit students and programs across the University from midnight to 11:59 p.m. at givingday.umw.edu. Challenges and matches funded by generous donors will be “unlocked” throughout the day, multiplying the impact of the gifts. The University has set a goal of 3,000 gifts and 1,000 new donors, topping last year’s record, when 870 donors made their first-ever gift to Mary Washington. Each gift made on March 19 will be tracked on dynamic leaderboards on the website, providing real-time updates on progress toward the participation goal.
This year’s theme celebrates how the University community comes together to deliver an outstanding liberal arts and sciences education to Mary Washington’s 4,000-plus students, while inspiring them to pay it forward for future generations of Eagles. Read more.
Announcing Giving Day 2020
Announcing Giving Day 2020
Save the date: Mary Washington’s 4th Annual Giving Day will be held Thursday, March 19, 2020. Mary Wash Giving Day, also known as #MaryWashDay, is a 24-hour online event in which alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends of UMW come together to make gifts to areas across the University. It’s an opportunity for you to raise funds to support departmental priorities.
Sign-up for #MaryWashDay 2020 is now open!
If your department or campus organization would like to participate in Mary Wash Giving Day 2020, please fill out this short form by September 3. We will hold an initial mandatory meeting for all participating groups on Thursday, September 26. In an attempt to accommodate differing schedules, we will offer this meeting at two different times: 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., both in the Hurley Convergence Center Digital Auditorium.
During this kickoff meeting, we will go over all of the new guidelines for Giving Day 2020 and distribute the Giving Day 2020 informational packet. In an effort to streamline, this packet will contain all of the guidelines, due dates, and information needed to make Giving Day 2020 a success. After this initial meeting, other optional workshops will be held throughout the year to help participants prepare for the big day.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Shelby Orlando: sorlando@umw.edu x1361, or Beth Hunsinger: ehunsing@umw.edu x2068.
We are excited to work with everyone who will be participating in #MaryWashDay 2020!
