The following message is from the Office of Administration and Finance:
Dear UMW Colleagues:
On Saturday, the 2016 General Assembly adopted recommendations of the Budget Conference Committee and passed a budget for the next two fiscal years (July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2018). The budget now goes to Governor McAuliffe for consideration. Legislators will reconvene April 20, 2016, for the Veto Session and final adoption of the budget.
Attached conference summary-2016 is an analysis prepared by Mr. Paul Messplay of the Conference Committee’s recommendations that most directly impact UMW. The first three columns represent the initial positions of the Governor, House of Delegates and Senate, and the fourth column reflects the compromise adopted by the House and Senate.
To summarize, this legislative session was more supportive of Higher Education in Virginia than we’ve seen in recent years and in particular, UMW benefited from President Hurley’s hard work with our State legislators.
If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact Mr. Messplay or me.
