Faculty/Staff Fitness Class Registration Open

Registration for private fitness classes is now open for UMW faculty, staff and their sponsored guests. Sessions run from March 20 – April 21:

  • YOGA – Mondays & Wednesdays – 12pm-12:50pm
  • EAGLE FIT – Tuesdays & Thursdays – 12pm-12:45pm
  • CIZE – Tuesdays & Thursdays – 1pm-1:45pm

Mindfulness & Meditation Course Registration Open

Learn the practice of mindfulness in a 6-week course led by Bill Brooks, a certified meditation teacher through the Meditation Teacher Training Institute. This experience is only $15 and participants who attend five or more sessions will receive that money back in the form of a UMW bookstore gift card.

If you are interested, please register online soon. The group will meet on Tuesdays beginning Feb. 21 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Trinkle B-39, the Leidecker Center for Asian Studies. Staff Fitness Opportunity

While there are free group fitness classes at UMW, sometimes faculty and staff are looking for a private fitness opportunity to work out together. With Private Fitness Classes, you can work out consistently in a group of your peers while receiving personal attention from a seasoned instructor and genuine support from the group of people who are enrolled.

This program style runs for five straight weeks and meets twice each week, for a total of 10 workouts together. The cost is $75 per person and in order for a class to run, we must have 3 people register and pay.

The first session of Private Fitness Classes will be Jan. 30 – March 3. Registration is now open!

During this session, you can choose from 2 classes: Yoga on Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 12:50 p.m. or Body Sculpt on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

Fitness Opportunities at UMW

Campus Recreation is currently accepting registrations for the upcoming session of Small Group Yoga and Small Group Fitness Fusion that will run from Oct. 24 through Dec. 2 (excluding the week of Thanksgiving). These are not your typical group exercise classes, as this training program requires commitment via registration, the registered members are expected to show up to both weekly workouts, and it is limited to a small number of participants. Additionally, the instructor focuses on the needs and capabilities of your group, so no need to worry about your current fitness level. Read more about each of the small group programs below.

 

Small Group Yoga
Mondays & Wednesdays (Oct. 24 – Dec. 2), 12-12:45 p.m., Goolrick Studio 5
Cost: $130 for UMW Faculty, Staff, Students & Alumni / $150 for Secondary Cardholders and Alumni +1’s
Description: Always wanted to learn the art of yoga? Would you like expert guidance and personalized attention? Would you like to start in a smaller class before moving on to a larger, more experienced practice? This program is for you! Get the attentive yoga practice you want in this unique small group yoga experience. Spend your Mondays and Wednesdays from October 24th – December 2nd progressing through yoga poses and mindfulness practices with your yoga instructor and small group of similarly-skilled people.
