A Message from the Rector

Dear UMW Faculty and Staff,

The Board of Visitors will be holding its regular meeting later this week.  At noon on Friday, February 15, Board members will be having lunch in the Faculty-Staff Dining Room at Seacobeck Hall.

During our last meeting in November, Board members enjoyed the opportunity to meet and interact with UMW faculty and staff at lunch.  Once again, during the February meeting, the Board members will distribute ourselves at tables throughout the dining room so that we may be as accessible as possible.  To assist you in identifying us, we will be wearing our Board of Visitors name badges and there will be identifying placards at the tables.

If you plan to have lunch in Seacobeck on Friday, we look forward to sharing a meal and conversation with you.  Thank you for your many efforts to make Mary Washington an outstanding university.

Best regards,

Pamela J. White ‘74

Rector

New N: and U: drive

All UMW Faculty and Staff,

The IT Department will install a new File & Printer server environment on Sunday, March 3. This means that what most of you know as “the N: drive” or “the U: drive” will be moved to new server hardware.

The current system will go down Sunday, March 3, at 9:00AM, and the new system will be available for use Sunday, March 3, at 7:00PM.

If you have questions or concerns about this system upgrade, please contact Deb Hovey Boutchyard at 540-654-1217 or dhovey@umw.edu. Thank you.

Provost Search Update

Dear UMW Faculty, Staff, and Students,

I am writing to inform you of the latest developments in the provost search process.  The search committee has determined that it will invite three candidates to visit UMW later this month.  We are very excited about the high quality of these individuals and look forward to introducing them to the Mary Washington community.

As I indicated previously, a very important part of their UMW visits will be open forums for the candidates to deliver brief presentations and answer questions from faculty, staff, and students.  These forums will be held in Dodd Auditorium on the dates and times listed below:

Thursday, February 21, 4:00-5:00 p.m.

Monday, February 25, 3:00-4:00 p.m. (note: the time of this session has been changed from the prior announcement to accommodate faculty departmental meeting schedules)

Tuesday, February 26, 4:00-5:00 p.m.

The names of the candidates and information about them will be released to the UMW community on Tuesday, February 19.  A survey will be provided so that you may provide the search committee with feedback following the candidates’ visits.

Thank you for your continued interest in the provost search.

Sincerely,

Richard V. Hurley
President
