Elizabeth Freund Larus, Professor of Political Science and International Affairs, offered a public lecture “Social and Economic Problems Facing China’s Fifth Generation of Leaders” at Creighton University in Omaha on September 9. The university’s Asian World Center invited Dr. Larus, a Creighton graduate, to offer the lecture to kick off this year’s Asian Culture Week.

Elizabeth Larus, professor of political science and international affairs, presented a paper, “Technological Change and China’s Naval Modernization: Security Implications for Taiwan,” at an international conference on Cross-Strait Relations in an Era of Technological Change on Tuesday, March 5. The conference was organized by St. Antony’s College, Oxford University (UK).

Elizabeth Freund Larus, professor of political science and international affairs, presented the paper “Taiwan after the Global Financial Crisis: Where Do We Go from Here?” at the 52nd meeting of the American Association for Chinese Studies in Winston-Salem, N.C., in October. She also presented the paper “Taiwan’s Reaction to the Global Financial Crisis” at the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association in Philadelphia in September.
