Southern Soul Food Lunch at the UC

Campus Dining will be kicking off Black History Month on Wednesday, Feb. 1, with our traditional Southern Soul Food lunch at the Top of the UC.  The menu will include Southern Fried Chicken, Honey Peach Glazed Ham, Candied Sweet Potatoes, Collard Greens with Ham, Charleston Hoppin’ John, Cornbread, Mississippi Mud Cake and more!

Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the cost for faculty and staff is just $6.  Please note: This special lunch is being served at the Top of the UC, not in the Chandler Ballroom.  For more information, contact Campus Dining Marketing, dining@umw.edu or 654-2165.

UMW’s Stop Hunger Food Drive in the News

The Stop Hunger Food Drive cosponsored in November by Sodexo’s Campus Dining and UMW’s athletic department made headlines on Fredericksburg’s Patch.com. UMW and community groups partnered together to bring in more than 3 tons of food for the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank.  Great work!

Campus Dining Holiday Schedule

 

Please take note of these important upcoming holiday dining schedules and events at the University Center.

  • Faculty & Staff Lunches in Chandler Ballroom will be offered between 11:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Dec. 1-8.  Due to previously scheduled events and the approaching holiday, there will be no Faculty & Staff Lunches in Chandler Ballroom after Dec. 8.
  • Winter Holiday Dinner: Campus Dining invites the UMW faculty and staff to join us for our Winter Holiday Dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the Top of the UC from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The menu includes Steamship Round of Beef, Peking Duck, Rice Noodle Crab Cakes, Roast Turkey with all the trimmings, and lots of your favorite holiday desserts.  The cost for faculty and staff will be $7 (tax included).  The door rate for other guests is $12.45 plus tax.
  • Midnight Breakfast Volunteers Welcome!  Campus Dining will be serving a free hot breakfast for all students on Monday, Dec. 12, from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.  We still need a few more volunteer servers to assist at this fun and lively event.  To volunteer contact Kristen Menard at 540-654-2165 or e-mail Kristen.Menard@Sodexo.com.

Thanksgiving Meals at the UC

Campus Dining is hosting a Thanksgiving buffet lunch for faculty and staff on Thursday, Nov. 17, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the Chandler Ballroom at the University Center. The buffet will include roast turkey and all the trimmings. Cost for faculty and staff is $7. Cost for guests is $9.15 plus tax.

A Thanksgiving dinner will be served at the Top of the UC that evening for students from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The dining room will be closed between 2 and 4 p.m. in order to set up the room for the special buffets. For additional information, contact Rose Benedict at 540-654-2169 or rbenedic@umw.edu.

Stop Hunger Food Drive Launch

Campus Dining, UMW athletes, and the Staff Advisory Council (SAC) are joining forces to collect food for the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank as part of Sodexo’s annual Stop Hunger campaign. Last year’s drive brought in 8,278 pounds of food for distribution to area residents and helped our UMW athletes win their conference food drive competition.

SAC is conducting the annual “One Can Hope” campus food drive campaign until December 16, but all the food they collect November 2-10 will count toward this joint Stop Hunger food drive effort.

UMW athletes are collecting donations at the Eagle Village Giant 9-10 a.m. and 5-6 p.m. November 2-5 and 7-9. They are also accepting EagleOne monetary donations at the Top of the UC between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. November 3, 4, 7, & 8. Donation bins can be found in all campus dining facilities, the UMW bookstore, Goolrick, Jepson, Combs, Melchers, Mercer and other campus locations.  For additional information contact Rose Benedict, rbenedic@umw.edu.

Holiday Dinner Volunteers Needed

Campus Dining will soon be hosting our annual Thanksgiving Dinner, Winter Holiday Dinner, and Midnight Breakfast events, and we are in great need of volunteer servers! All members of our campus community, friends and neighbors are invited to join our merry bands of volunteers!

The Thanksgiving Dinner is November 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. and the Winter Holiday Dinner is December 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. Volunteers for these events are asked to serve for a one-hour shift. The Midnight Breakfast is on December 12 from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and volunteers are asked to serve from 10:45 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. These events are lots of fun and the students really enjoy seeing the faculty and staff in chef’s hats serving up holiday goodies.  We hope you’ll join in these holiday festivities! New Lunch Buffets: Beginning Monday, Sept. 19, Campus Dining will offer lunch buffets for Faculty & Staff in the Chandler Ballroom. You may eat at the Top of the UC or in Chandler Ballroom, but not at both locations on the same visit.

Serving Hours

Monday-Friday* 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost $6.

*There will be some exceptions due to previously scheduled programming in the ballroom. Serving exception dates will be posted at the door.

Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day Sept. 22.  As a token of our appreciation, Campus Dining is offering members of the UMW faculty and staff a FREE CUPCAKE with any sandwich combo purchase at Li’l Joe’s (2nd Floor of the UC) between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 22!  Be sure to look for your Free Cupcake Coupons that should be in your mailboxes by Monday.

 

Campus Dining Summer Closing

Dining at the Top of the U.C. will be closing for a short summer break after lunch on Monday, July 25.  The last full day of meal service (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be on Friday, July 22.  There will be lunch service only on Monday, and the serving hours will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Meal service will resume on Monday, Aug. 15. Serving hours for our early arrival meals will be posted on the Campus Dining Facebook page (UMWDining) by early August.  For further information please contact Rose Benedict at rbenedic@umw.edu.

Campus Dining Job Fair

Campus Dining will be holding a job fair for full- and part-time positions on Saturday, July 9, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.  Anyone interested in attending the job fair must first complete a Sodexo job application online by going to Sodexo.BalanceTrak.com and searching “Fredericksburg.” Qualified applicants will be called to set up times for interviews on the day of the job fair.  Open positions include: cooks, food prep workers, utility workers, cashier, dining room attendants, food servers, catering wait staff and bartenders.  For additional information you mail e-mail Campus Dining at Dining@UMW.edu.
