Provost Search Update

Dear UMW Faculty, Staff, and Students,

I am once again writing to inform the UMW community of our progress in the provost search.  The search committee has completed its first-round interviews.  We were fortunate to have an outstanding group of candidates interested in our provost position.  At this point, our search consultants from Witt/Kieffer are conducting detailed reference checks on those individuals who are moving forward in the process.

We will be inviting as many as four finalists to UMW for visits during the latter part of February.  One important facet of these visits will be open forums in Dodd Auditorium where the candidates will deliver brief presentations and answer questions.  Sessions are scheduled from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Dodd on the following dates:

Thursday, February 21

Friday, February 22

Monday, February 25

Tuesday, February 26

If possible, please reserve these dates and times on your calendar and make plans to attend the open forums.  A survey is being prepared so that the search committee may gather your feedback and opinions regarding the candidates.

As we get closer to these dates, we will announce the names of the finalist candidates who will be visiting and will provide access to information about them.

Thank you for your interest in the selection process for the next academic leader for the University of Mary Washington.

Sincerely,

Richard V. Hurley

President
