Bruce O’Brien, professor of history, will discuss the effort to translate and digitize 150 early English law codes, including the Magna Carta, during an interview on the “With Good Reason” public radio program beginning Saturday, Feb. 11.

Charles J. Shields to be Featured on Public Radio Program
Charles J. Shields, associate director of the Chappell Great Lives Lecture Series, will explore how Kurt Vonnegut’s experience as a World War II prisoner of war influenced his later writing during an interview on the With Good Reason public radio program beginning Saturday, January 28.
The interview can be heard on January 28 at 4:30 p.m. on WCVE 88.9 FM and on Sunday, January 29 at 7 p.m. and Monday, January 30 at 12:30 a.m. on WAMU 88.5 FM. In addition to his interview on With Good Reason, Shields will appear on C-SPAN2‘s BookTV to discuss Kurt Vonnegut as well as the Great Lives lecture series. The segment is expected to air Saturday, January 28 at 10 a.m. and Sunday, January 29 at 3 a.m. and 11:15 p.m.
On Thursday, February 2, Shields will appear on WABC-AM‘s “John Batchelor” show at 9 a.m.
A feature article about Shields’ And So It Goes: Kurt Vonnegut and the subject of his biography appeared in the January/February issue of Humanities, the magazine of the National Endowment of the Humanities, written by David Kippen, former director of the literature program for the National Endowment of the Arts.

Ranjit Singh, associate professor of political science, will reflect on his experience with Bahrain’s royal family in relation to last year’s uprising in the Middle East during an interview on the “With Good Reason” public radio program beginning Saturday, January 7.
