New Online Tool to Submit Concerns About Students
The following message is from the Office of Student Affairs:
Dear Faculty and Staff:
For weeks now, faculty and staff have been preparing for the academic year in various ways, including FSEM training, staff retreats, and departmental discussions about best practices in educating and supporting students. As you prepare, I want to inform you about a new online tool designed to support our students: the UMW Reporting Form. You may have received or will receive a hard copy notification of the new form in the campus mail.
This reporting tool will complement ongoing means of supporting students, including referring them to the Talley Center for Counseling Services, the Office of Disability Resources, the Office of Student Life, and the UMW Police. The UMW Reporting Form is intended as an additional means of submitting concerns; we encourage you to continue to call the resources above if that feels more comfortable.
Faculty and staff may use the UMW Reporting Form to submit concerns about a student’s well-being, reports about sexual and gender-based harassment and violence, bias incident reports, and possible code of conduct violations. These reports will be routed to the appropriate campus officials for follow-up.
The UMW Reporting Form is for students only; if you have concerns about a faculty or staff member, please contact Human Resources. If the situation is an emergency, contact the UMW Police at 4444 on campus or 911 off campus.
Please contact me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Juliette Landphair, Ph.D.
Vice President for Student Affairs

UMW Fitness Center Fees: New Development
The following message is from the Vice President for Student Affairs
Dear UMW Faculty and Staff:
I appreciate that many of you have shared your thoughts and feedback with me about the plan to introduce faculty and staff memberships to the UMW Fitness Center that would require a fee. After assessing your insight and talking with my Campus Recreation colleagues, we will continue to offer use of the Fitness Center at no charge for faculty and staff while we continue to gather more information and feedback from you during the coming semester. Until resource needs are determined, the expanded hours, services, and programming are under review. Meanwhile, the Fitness Center will open on weekdays at 7 a.m. until further notice.
We still plan to hold the RecFest Open House tomorrow, Wednesday, August 17 from 10 a.m. to noon, and from 4 to 6 p.m. We hope to see you there!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Juliette Landphair, Ph.D.
